Material properties of polycarbonate sheets

Polycarbonate board, referred to as PC board, is made of polycarbonate polymer as raw material, using advanced formula and the latest extrusion technology. PC board is a new type of high-strength, light-transmitting building material, and it is the best building material to replace glass and plexiglass. Compared with laminated glass, tempered glass, insulating glass, etc., PC board has excellent properties such as light weight, weather resistance, super strength, flame retardancy, and sound insulation, and has become a popular building decoration material.
Material properties:
Wear resistance: The wear resistance of the PC board treated with anti-ultraviolet coating can be increased several times, which is similar to that of glass. Thermoforming can be cold bent into a certain arc without cracks, and can be cut or drilled again. Anti-theft and anti-gun shot PC can be pressed together with glass into safety windows for hospitals, schools, libraries, banks, embassies and prisons, where the glass can improve the hardness and wear resistance of the plate. PC can also be laminated with other PC layers or acrylates for traditional security applications.
Anti-ultraviolet: It can resist super strong ultraviolet rays, only the surface of some single-layer boards will turn yellow or become hazy under long-term sunlight. It is also suitable for low temperature resistant materials. PC board has excellent heat insulation performance. Under the same thickness condition, the heat insulation performance of PC board is about 16% higher than that of glass, which can effectively block the transmission of heat energy. Whether it keeps warm in winter or prevents the intrusion of heat in summer, PC boards can effectively reduce building energy consumption and save energy.
Anti-combustion performance: PC board has good flame retardancy, does not produce toxic gas when burned, and its smoke concentration is lower than that of wood and paper. It is determined as a first-class flame retardant material and meets environmental protection standards. After 30 seconds of burning the sample, the burning length did not exceed 25mm, and the flammable gas was only decomposed when the hot air was as high as 467°C. Therefore, after relevant measurement, it is considered that its fire performance is qualified.
Resistance to chemical substances: it has no reaction to acid, alcohol, fruit juice, and beverages; it also has certain resistance to gasoline and kerosene, and will not crack or lose light transmission ability within 48 hours of contact. However, it has poor chemical resistance to certain chemicals (such as amines, esters, halogenated hydrocarbons, and paint thinners).
Light weight: The density of polycarbonate is about 1.29/cm3, which is half lighter than glass. If it is made into a hollow PC board, its quality is 1/3 of plexiglass and 1/15 to 1/12 of glass. The hollow PC board has excellent stiffness and can be used as a skeleton component. The lightweight of the PC board makes the construction safer and more convenient, which can greatly save the time and cost of shipping and construction.
